In September last year the pupils and parents at Perrott Hill School welcomed Sir Neville and Lady Marriner to the opening of their new Music School. Sir Neville spoke very movingly about the importance of classical music in life, in the world and about the role which schools and parents play in fostering the love of classical music. Sadly, this was the last event in the UK in which Sir Neville took part, prior to his death in October 2016. The community at Perrott Hill felt blessed to have had this opportunity to meet Sir Neville and it is now their privilege to give the Sir Neville Marriner Memorial Concert, in the presence of Lady Marriner as part of the Beaminster Festival.
Led by their Director of Music, Trevor Barr, the choir will perform works by Howard Goodall, Malcolm Archer, John Rutter and Will Todd. Soloists will perform on bassoon, flute, guitar and piano and we will also hear from the Perrott Hill String Orchestra. Friends of Perrot Hill will also perform. These include Louise Innes (Mezzo Soprano), and Eloise Routledge (Soprano).
